Owning + Living in the Power of Femininity

The power of femininity is something that is often misunderstood and overlooked in today's society. However, it is an essential part of every woman's being and can have a significant impact on the quality of her life. The natural feminine energy is powerful, intuitive, and graceful, and it is essential to understand how to embrace and harness this power to live a life of intention and purpose. I won't sit here and say that I have it all together or that I was born with a supernatural ability but I will say that I have taken a very long, good hard look at my life over the years and realized I was totally neglecting my feminine by trying to fit into someone else's perfect picture box. 

For a long time I tried to be someone else and it wasn't always the same person. What I mean by that is I would change who I was for the person or people I cared for in my life at the time- whether that be with the way I dressed, the activities I incorporated into my daily life, habits I picked up, how I spoke and the list goes on.. Now this may seem fake and superficial and it TOTALLY WAS! Playing the game of someone else's fantasy is always going to mean that you run in circles around yourself without ever making it to TO yourself. The ironic part in all this is that it never works out how you intend, instead you end up doing the opposite of your intention because that people pleasing energy is what people feel instead of who you are and it is a repellant. 

I reached a point where I was so exhausted of trial and error and feeling like I just wasn't good enough. It's easy to feel this way when we don't take responsibility for our own lives and the power we have. So I took a step back, left everything I knew behind and started from scratch. What did I like to wear? What things do I like to do? What makes me happy and whole? How can I feel more in control of my femininity? These are the questions I asked and slowly I started to explore myself through my own eyes, not through someone else's. There is much more to this story that we will dive into in another post but for now here are some tips for living in your own feminine power. 

 

  1. Embrace Your Feminine Energy

The first step to owning the power of femininity is to embrace your feminine energy. Embrace your intuition, sensitivity, and nurturing qualities. Understand that these traits are not weaknesses but are strengths that can be used to enrich your relationships, life and success. Women who embrace their feminine energy are often more in tune with their emotions, their bodies, and their surroundings, making them better able to navigate life's challenges. The next time someone tells you that you are being "too sensitive" own it and pay attention to what your intuition is trying to tell you. If your innate ability to be emotional and nurturing does not translate to someone in your life, your power may just be warning you that these are not your people. 

  1. Practice Self-Care

Self-care is an essential aspect of living in the power of femininity. Taking care of yourself physically, emotionally, and mentally is crucial to feeling confident and empowered. Take time each day to do something that nourishes your mind, body, and soul. This could be as simple as taking a hot bath or practicing yoga. For me, physical movement is the key. I look good and feel good knowing I did something for my long term health at the same time. 

  1. Add some Class and Sophistication to Your Life

Adding a touch of class and sophistication to your life can help you feel more confident and empowered. Invest in quality pieces of clothing and accessories that make you feel good. Take the time to learn about etiquette and manners, and practice them in your daily life. These small changes can make a significant difference in how you feel and how others perceive you.

  1. Read + Educate 

Reading books by powerful female authors can help you gain a better understanding of the power of femininity and how the women before us and around us use their own. Some of my favorite authors include Maya Angelou, Gloria Steinem, and Jane Austen. These authors have written extensively on the importance of embracing feminine energy and the impact it can have on our lives. I am also a big fan of educational content, take time to learn something knew- it will do wonders for your ability to own your intelligence. 

  1. Listen to Music That Empowers You

Music can have a profound impact on our mood and energy. Listening to music that empowers you and makes you feel confident and strong can help you tap into your feminine power. Some of my favorite artists include Alina Baraz, Elise Road, Van Morrison and of course, Jhene Aiko. This music is soft and meaningful- it's also easy for me to pour a glass of wine and spin around in the kitchen late at night dancing to and connecting with myself. 

  1. Create a Capsule Wardrobe

A capsule wardrobe is a collection of essential items that can be mixed and matched to create a variety of outfits. Investing in classic pieces that never go out of style can help you feel confident and put together. When you feel good about the way you look, it can have a significant impact on your energy and confidence. I am sure you've noticed your energy off at an event when you are wearing something that you don't feel your best in. Maybe you tried to step out of your comfort zone and wore something a bit more provocative or a style that doesn't fit your energy. This leaves you adjusting yourself all night while also adding self-doubt and lowering self confidence. I found that a minimal and classic wardrobe makes me feel the most unstoppable because I know that I am respecting my femininity and honoring myself by staying true to who I am. If you want to add class to your life, this is a key player in making that change. 

  1. Romanticize your life!

Romanticizing your life has been the cherry on top of this journey for me. Finding beauty in the small things in your life can help connect you with the things you truly love and rid your life of the things that do not serve you. Drink water from a wine glass, cook yourself an extravagant meal and eat it under candlelight, dance when you can, get dressed up for nothing, compliment yourself in the mirror and smile at strangers as they pass by. This little piece of mindfulness has the ability to change your perspective on the way you relate to those around you. If you want to be more feminine and graceful, you have to look through a new lens. 

Owning and living in the power of femininity is about embracing your natural qualities as a woman. We are innately built to balance out the harshness of masculinity. Today, we see so many women who either adopt a masculine mentality or fall into the trap of trying to attract men by superficial means. My biggest tip of all is to just be yourself. Strip yourself down to the bone and ask yourself those hard questions. Are you really living your dream life? If you're not, don't waste any more time- you have all the tools you need to fight for the life you want.
