Power in Refinement: It's okay to start over.

Power in Refinement: It's okay to start over.

When you approach your wardrobe what do you put on? A piece of clothing that holds society's expectations. A fashion trend that rapidly grows and encourages you to follow. The idea that having more will make you more. Ladies, we’ve grown - and these ‘clothes’ no longer fit your lifestyle.
Wardrobe refinement is not merely about straying from societal standards, but rather about honoring and enhancing the distinct features that make a woman the centerpiece of any outfit. Empowerment in our wardrobe roots from the acceptance and nurturing of who we are as individuals. How much longer will we allow ourselves to stunt our personal growth by holding on to a blouse that we desperately want to love? but simply don’t. We are human, we desire to be desired; to catch the eye of those around us.

Take for example, a restrictive bold pair of jeans (that you don't feel comfortable in enough to wear) and her opponent - our ‘invite only wide leg trouser.’ While the jeans might catch the eye momentarily - the grace of wide-legged trousers is not in their adherence to societal norms of ‘trending’ but in their rejection of these constraints. We are more than the sum of our possessions and fashion is just one facet of our identity. How will you utilize it to mirror more profound aspects of yourself – your character, your deeds, and your principles?

Let's start here; accepting this truth. We hold within us the missing ‘piece’ we've been searching for all along.. the strong foundation for expression. It's in the way we carry ourselves with confidence; Our clothes adorn us, not the other way around. Start by assembling a collection of pieces that resonate with your lifestyle, prioritizing quality over quantity. Invest in versatile and long lasting staples that can be mixed and matched to create a multitude of looks. Avoid holding on to ‘more’, you are enough.

As women, we were crafted uniquely to distinguish us in a world of diversity. From the arch of our brows to the subtle curve of our hips, we stand out not in spite of our dissimilarities, but because of them. As we evolve and grow, so too should our style - reflecting our personal growth, aspirations, and newfound wisdom. How will you embrace this opportunity?
